TRENDING: MINIMALISM

Our focus today is on one of fall's leading trends that has minimal composition but maximum effect: minimalism. But one must be careful not to mistake minimalism for plain—rather, it's wearable, reusable structured dresses and separates that have classic appeal with a slight futuristic vibe.

So what is minimalism exactly? If we were to create a thesaurus entry for the style strategy we'd include the call words, 'clean, streamlined, tailored, linear, form-flattering, and uniform'. The runways, as well as Kruger, Saldana, and Bosworth all sported low-maintenance, sleek, pulled-back hair to compliment the simplicity of the ensemble. While overloading with baubles and jewelry galore is a look we love, for the minimalist trend, keep it to maybe a singular polished hardware ring, a small metallic clutch, and platform pumps. We love how Kruger and Bosworth went for bright lipstick shades to offset the subdued, strict look. And while minimalism favors a monochromatic scheme (we especially love wearing same-colored separates from head-to-toe)—you can achieve the same essence if you select a solid color in a sturdy fabric with a defined silhouette like Paltrow. A rich color will still require that your accessories are few and that your hair and make-up styling is polished and basic.
