CODE RED
with Brit Morgan and Jenn Proske

From such fall collections as Zac Posen and Givenchy to the festive decor of the present season—we're seeing red. It's a hue that's undeniably bold, head-turning, and elicits a certain sexy confidence from its wearer. With our taurine-like madness for the color, we decided to indulge and style looks in head-to-toe red. What better way to demonstrate the color's effects than to call on two actresses who play characters very associated with red—blood red that is.

Actresses Brit Morgan (True Blood) and Jenn Proske (Vampires Suck) obliged us by slipping into streamlined red looks that you'll no doubt want to sink your teeth into. Morgan—a combat-boot-devotee with "eclectic, tough yet feminine style"—played character Debbie Pelt on True Blood, ex girlfriend of werewolf Alcide (Joe Manganiello) in Season 3. Happily she'll be returning soon for work on future episodes. She says the show has been "one of my life's best opportunities and biggest blessings so far." Morgan has a contagious perma-smile and joy for life radiating out of her that was so fun on the shoot. Her love of fashion seems to be based on how she feels in pieces, rather than the label: "I don't really wear designers," she says, "I love scouring Buffalo Exchange for items." She wore some incredible jeweled bracelets for the shoot that were her grandmother's, and wearing them felt special to her. Wearing red brought out the statuesque, sultry beauty she possesses: "I wear so much black so wearing red was refreshing and vibrant—it made me feel confident and alive."

Also capitalizing on vampire frenzy is the stunning Jenn Proske. Proske landed her first major film this year in the comedy Vampires Suck in which she spoofs Kristen Stewart's character in Twilight. Proske comes from a theatre background, having worked at Sydney Theatre Company in Australia, under the direction of Cate Blanchett and her husband Andrew Upton, an experience she says was "one of the most incredible jobs I've ever had." With incredibly luscious thick brown locks and a smile equally as warm, Proske was very hands-on at the shoot with all of the clothes and seemed to really understand how she wears things. It conveyed a sort of self-certainty and attention to detail which fortifies her natural beauty. She has youthful taste and an affinity for lines like Alexander Wang for his flare for "dramatic yet chic, fun to wear pieces." She loves wearing "whatever is comfortable but with my own twist via shoes or fun accessories,"—which is how she arrived: laid back and uncontrived yet polished. During the shoot Proske noticed that even deep bold reds complimented her fair complexion—we think the high-contrast definitely made her skin come alive.—ALLIE WOOD.
