HOW THEY DO: SHEARLING JACKETS
There's a wooly-lined, aviator-esque outerwear number that has captured our hearts this season (and which we plan to transition into next season): the shearling jacket. Compounding the fact that it's a new instant classic are the droves of trend-savvy celebrities who bundled up in the cozy fare.
If we were ever in doubt that this is a staple worth investing in (we weren't, but let's pretend for the sake of this story) this bundle of drool-worthy muses would have closed the case. Rachel Zoe convincing us to wear anything is no surprise—but the fact that she wears thigh-high platform boots with a perfect shearling jacket in all her maternity glory is simply, venerably, amazing. Keira Knightley's best friend this season was undoubtedly this Burberry shearling coat which she paired with everyday casual chic pieces to dressier personal appearance ensembles. Love the proportion play of her long coat to her shorts layered over tights. Fearne Cotton proves that the Brits are onto the trend, in her usual can't-help-being-cool manner. January Jones solidified our desire for a Helmut Lang version—love her leather-sleeved acquisition. And thanks again, Elle Macpherson for once again setting the bar so high—she contrasted a white shearling rendition with what's fast becoming her signature—leather pants.
