RUNWAY REPLICATING: PRADA S/S 2011
SFD's Designer Mock-Off feature is now Runway Our Way. It's a change we made to discern the purpose of the feature, which is emulating the look and trends of current collections in specific ways. We nod to seasonal designs of some of our most appreciated designers with more cost-conscious pieces we've found that reflect how we've translated runway looks. Today's subject of inspiration: the bright, striped and as Miuccia Prada put it "minimal baroque" appeal of Prada's S/S 2011 collection.
We were hugely attracted to the bright jolts of pink, red, orange, green, and violet that marked the Prada collection up in mixed patterns consisting of thin and rugby stripes, florals, and Mexican-inspired embroidery. The collection makes us want to go on vacation in the best way. Choose a striped piece, whether a pencil skirt like the one we found at Topshop, or a top like Carhartt's sweater, and wear with a contrasting print in an easily matched dual-color. Try a bold orange dress with thick, striped wedges for the simple yet futuristic vibe achieved at Prada this season.
