ON OUR RADAR: TASSELS
The tassel—a fringe clasp notorious for its use on graduation caps and as a curtain tie-back—finagled its way into a more fashionable crowd this season. Many spring collections utilized the tassel as chic embellishment, playing with it as a finish on belts, sandals, dresses, blouses, and bags.
Tassels played a starring role in the Gucci, Chris Benz, Christian Dior and Sonia Rykiel spring shows. Gucci featured metallic obi belts secured by tassel-ended ties. Chris Benz also tied rope-like tassels around the waists of his models, and Christian Dior adorned thin rope ankle ties with small tassels that hang just-so. Actress Michelle Monaghan donned a Tory Burch summer dress that featured miniature tassel ties.
